American Conservatory Theater has believed in community engagement since we opened our doors in 1967, creating performances and workshops in theater and dance throughout the Bay Area. Over the last five years, A.C.T. has drawn energy from the amazing work of small arts groups around the Bay Area by launching ArtShare: A.C.T.'s Community Space-Sharing Initiative. ArtShare aims to provide space for small and mid-sized companies as well as independent artists without a home who would benefit from being in residence at one of A.C.T.’s spaces in the Central Market area.
The Selection Process:
Space will be awarded to individuals or companies for up to 2 weeks each (the length of each space awarded may vary and will be determined based on the needs of the project). In addition to their need for space, recipients will be selected based on the project’s readiness for the program, the project’s capacity for success in A.C.T.’s spaces, and the diversity of the communities served by the artists.
Recipients will receive:
- Complimentary performance space
- House management and security personnel for all performances
- A technical orientation at load-in
- Special rate for rehearsal space
- Listing of project on A.C.T.’s website
- Access to free tickets for A.C.T. subscription shows
