Check out the A.C.T. blog for posts from interns about their experiences at A.C.T.

"Interning at A.C.T. is an incredibly formative experience. You're surrounded by people who share a passion for the theatre. As an intern, you are immediately accepted by and begin working side by side with an impressive staff at making plays happen—there's nothing more exciting or fulfilling than that."

Rebecca Arneson
Marketing/Public Relations Intern, 2001–02

"What a great opportunity to work in a theater that is as well-known and professional as A.C.T. Through my experiences working with union crews, actors and stage managers, on a stage the size of the American Conservatory Theater, and with the high level of the productions, I feel well prepared to venture into the theater world."

Kea Watson
Stage Management Intern, 2001–02

A.C.T.'s internships provide advanced, hands on training in theater production and administration to students, graduates, and other interested persons. It is through this exposure to professionals at work—and to their audiences—that our interns learn what drama means to the life of a community, and how the life of a community enriches its theater. A.C.T. internships provide a springboard to a professional life in the theater: our interns have gone on to attend renowned graduate programs, to work in major regional theaters, and to freelance as directors, designers, and stage managers.

Interns are a vital part of the thriving circle of artists that make A.C.T. one of the nation's most respected arts institutions. Each intern's experience is nurtured and developed with the guidance of a staff mentor, and interns are encouraged to draw from the diverse resources and collective knowledge of A.C.T.'s resident artists, designers, and administrators.

A.C.T. interns have access to a variety of benefits designed to integrate them into the artistic life of the company and the community, including a seminar course administered by Studio A.C.T. Through monthly sessions, interns develop individual, specific projects resulting in the creation of work that will broaden and strengthen their professional and personal skills and abilities. Interns will also explore the rewards and challenges associated with producing theater in the professional theater community through roundtable sessions with members of A.C.T.'s senior staff and visiting artists.

In addition, interns receive complimentary tickets to all A.C.T. productions and opportunities to attend other Bay Area theaters. Interns are also encouraged to attend student projects in our conservatory, brown-bag lunches with guest artists, and all audience events such as prologues and audience exchanges.
