We invite you to be a part of The Tosca Project by participating in the development process and helping to produce the play with your Annual Fund contributions. You'll get an inside look at the making of live theater—from the directors, actors, and dancers in rehearsal to the set, lighting, and costume designers at work in our shops—and learn what it takes to bring a new large-scale theatrical work to the stage.

As members of the Tosca Movement, contributors are invited to take behind-the-scenes tours of A.C.T.’s scene, prop and costume shops, featuring artistic talks with Tosca set designer Doug Schmidt, and Tosca costume designer Robert de la Rose. Contributors are also offered an all-access tour of The American Conservatory Theater on Geary street, and a sneak preview of The Tosca Project at an early technical rehearsal.

The Tosca Project is a groundbreaking new production being created by A.C.T. that will have its world premiere in June 2010 as the grand finale of our 2009–10 season. Blending theater, poetry, movement, and music, this unique collaboration involving actors and dancers promises to be as memorable as the notorious North Beach night spot, The Tosca Cafe, which gives the production its name.
