Troilus and Cressida

A never-ending war that no one wants. Military leaders more interested in macho posturing than diplomatic solutions. Women caught in the middle and traded like property. Queer soldiers scapegoated and treated with suspicion. None of this sounds familiar, right? In Shakespeare's cynical tragicomedy, he takes us into the nitty-gritty daily grind of an unpopular war, explores how gender roles are performed in wartime, and questions the concepts of heroism and loyalty in an age where morals are deeply malleable.

The A.C.T. OUT Tour takes classic plays and encourages students to relate them directly to the present day, with a translated script by Play On Shakespeare, inclusive casting, simple and impactful design, and in-the-round seating all designed to capture young people's attention and keep it for a fast-moving and deeply engaging 90 minutes.
