Hilltop High School: Dreams Are Free – Los Sueños Son Gratis

MAY 7, 2025

A.C.T.’s Education and Community Programs Department and Hilltop High School present an original performance stemming from a yearlong creative writing project. The students, all pregnant and parenting teens, have spent the school year exploring theater and writing exercises that build confidence, address specific issues, and empower them to feel more connected to themselves and others.

"Dreams Are Free – Los Sueños Son Gratis" is written and performed by the young mothers of Hilltop High School and directed by A.C.T. Teaching Artists Sierra Gonzalez and Maica Folch. This community-engaged performance features original poetry, monologues, and scenes that explore personal and collective dreams and wishes. Through their own words, the performers share stories of resilience, ambition, and the realities of pursuing their aspirations while navigating life’s complexities. "Dreams Are Free – Los Sueños Son Gratis" invites us to reflect on the dreams we hold, the barriers we face, and the power of community in shaping our future.
