With its stunning, Beaux Arts–style design, the 100-year-old Geary Theater is one of the most beautiful buildings in the country. A dynamic and intimate performance complex filled with the creative energy of the most exciting artists of the Bay Area and beyond, The Strand Theater had its much-anticipated opening in late spring 2015. Located directly across from Civic Center’s lively UN Plaza, The Strand boasts a 283-seat theater, a 120-seat event and performance space, and a welcoming lobby and cafe that is open to city residents seeking a new destination in the Central Market neighborhood.
Getting here/other venues
Most productions take place at The Geary Theater at 415 Geary Street, San Francisco or The Strand Theater at 1127 Market Street, San Francisco. The Geary Theater is located near the Powell Street BART station and is easily accessible by bus or car. Easy parking is available at nearby Mason O'Farrell Garage. The Strand Theater is located steps away from the Civic Center BART station with parking available at the Soma Grand Parking Garage, directly behind The Strand. Second stage productions often take place at The Theater at Children's Creativity Museum, located at 221 4th Street, or at The Costume Shop, an intimate black-box theater located at 1117 Market Street. The theater opens one hour before curtain, and we invite you to visit one of our bars (located on the third floor and in the lower-level lobby) to enjoy a cocktail and conversation before the performance. Pre-order your intermission treats and skip the line between acts!

At A.C.T. we don't just make theater—we train actors. Each year, the award-winning A.C.T. Conservatory teaches hundreds of students at all ages and levels in a vast array of classes, from acting technique and improv to on-camera work and musical theater.
