An Update on the National Endowment for the Arts

May 13

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) notified A.C.T. that our grant award has been terminated. Sadly, we are not alone in this loss. Hundreds of arts organizations throughout the United States received similar notices, citing a shift in agency priorities for current year and future funding.

The National Endowment for the Arts has long been a cornerstone of American cultural life, ensuring that artists from every region and background have the opportunity to create, share, and innovate. Its support reaches all corners of the country’s artistic landscape, enabling metropolitan areas and rural communities, youth arts programs, and community-based initiatives to thrive. At its best, the NEA affirms that access to the arts is not a luxury, but a national value—essential to civic dialogue, education, and a vibrant democracy. The loss of this funding threatens not just individual projects, but the very principle that public investment in the arts uplifts us all.

A.C.T. remains committed to advancing a thriving, inclusive, and forward-looking American arts landscape. As a dedicated member of our community, we hope that you continue to share our belief that arts play a vital role locally and nationally, building stronger communities through developing empathy, social cohesion, and economic impact.

At this critical moment for the arts, we hope you will consider contacting your legislators to support the NEA or making a donation to help A.C.T. or another arts organization sustain the meaningful work on our stages and support the incredible artists who bring it to life.

Thank you for your support—and for your belief in all that we do.
