The Studio A.C.T. Encore Program
Quite a number of Studio A.C.T. students come back to take classes again and again throughout each year. We love getting to know our students from class to class, seeing them grow in their creativity and making new friends along the way.
We wanted to offer something to express our appreciation for this enthusiasm and commitment. Thus the Studio A.C.T. Encore Program was born!
The new Studio A.C.T. Encore Program is for you if:
- You take (or plan to take!) three or more Studio A.C.T. classes across the year and want to save money!
- The classes you want often sell out before you get a chance to enroll, and you’d like to get in early on enrollment.
- You’ve often wished you could book extra time in a studio to rehearse for class, or to prepare for personal projects related to your classes.
- Taking Studio A.C.T. classes has made you curious about other A.C.T. programs and productions, and you want added access to those.
If that sounds like you, click the yellow “Sign Me Up!” button above and join the new Studio A.C.T. Encore Program!

The annual Encore Program season starts each September 1st and ends each August 31st, a full twelve months.
Enrollment for the Encore Program season opens each May. Membership for anyone who enrolls between May and September will commence with the Fall Session, which starts mid-September.
Enrollment for any given Encore Program season remains open through the end of the Winter Session within that season.
To enjoy your Encore benefits to the fullest, we encourage you to enroll in your membership prior to the September start of Fall Session, and prior to enrolling in Fall Session classes. That way your benefits are available to you throughout the entire season, from Fall Session through Summer Session.
However, it is still possible to join the program anytime through the end of Winter Session and still take advantage of the program's benefits.
The Encore Program membership fee is non-refundable, and non-transferable to future seasons. Membership includes more than class discounts; If at some point you decide not to take more classes during your membership season, your full range of benefits remain available to you through the end of your membership season.
The Richard D. May Scholarship Program does not apply to the Encore Program, nor to classes taken by Encore members.
DISCOUNTS & BENEFITS
The Encore Program is designed to benefit students who want to take multiple classes over the course of a given year.
If you take three full-length classes over the course of the Encore Program membership season, your cumulative savings covers the cost of membership. Take a fourth full-length class, and now you’re saving even more. And should you make a last-minute decision to join any class, whether full-length or shorter, the 50% flash discount is available to you 24 hours prior to the first day of all classes not yet sold out.
In addition to saving money with the 15% standing and 50% flash discounts, Encore Program benefits include early access to enrollment, invitations to special events, and free rehearsal space during class sessions.
The 15% Returning Student discount is subject to Early Bird deadlines, typically ending one month prior to the start of a given class session. However, Encore members can use their 15% discount at any time throughout the season.
Most Encore benefits become active starting September 1st with one exception: members can apply their 15% tuition discount to Fall classes as soon as Fall Session goes on sale. This discount will not apply to classes running prior to Fall Session, before the new Encore Program season has started.
If you plan to join the Encore Program and take Fall classes, please enroll in the Encore Program prior to enrolling in Fall Session classes, as member discounts are not applicable retroactively.
If you enroll in the Encore Program after the season has already started, all benefits commence at the time of your enrollment and cannot be applied retroactively.
For example, if you took classes in Fall Session and then enrolled in your membership in late November, your membership discounts would not be applicable retroactively to classes previously taken.
Similarly, if you are enrolled in any given class session and mid-way through that session you decide to join the Encore Program, your membership discounts would not be applicable retroactively to classes in which you are already enrolled and currently taking. However, your discounts would absolutely apply to any additional classes you enroll in after becoming a member, whether during the current session or in subsequent sessions.
Encore Program membership benefits are only available to Encore Program members.
Encore members will be provided with member-only discount codes for their use when enrolling in classes. Sharing discount codes with non-members may result in cancellation of membership without a refund.
STUDIO SPACE
Encore members may reserve up to 1 hour of studio time each week, on a space available basis, during any Studio A.C.T. class session in which they are actively enrolled in classes.
Due to the high volume of activities programmed at 30 Grant each week, it is not possible to reserve studio space between Studio A.C.T. class sessions or during sessions in which members are not actively enrolled in class. Members should make their requests with as much advanced notice as possible, minimum one business day in advance. Same-day requests for studio space cannot be accommodated.
To reserve studio space, Encore Program members fill out a simple online request form, the link to which is provided in the info packet they receive upon becoming members.
Encore members may reserve up to 1 hour of studio time each week, on a space available basis, during any Studio ACT class session in which they are actively enrolled in classes.
Studios may be reserved by members for extra rehearsal time of scenes or monologues they’re working on in class. Studios may also be reserved for activities indirectly related to current or past class work—e.g. preparing auditions for local productions, recording a self-tape with your own camera equipment, practicing a speech or presentation you’re due to give at your job, etc.
Please note that beyond providing time in the studios, Studio A.C.T. cannot provide access to camera or other technical equipment, active support from staff during the reserved studio hour, nor additional private time with faculty. Access to reserving studios is meant for Encore Program members’ personal use as described above.
You may invite fellow students who are enrolled in any A.C.T. Conservatory adult program (Studio A.C.T., San Francisco Semester, Summer Training Congress) at the time of the studio space reservation.
Due to strict legal liability issues, it is not possible to invite guests who are not currently enrolled in a Conservatory adult program, including alumni no longer currently enrolled. Inviting guests who are not currently enrolled may result in cancellation of membership without a refund.
