All classes take place in-person in our studio spaces at 30 Grant Ave.
Fall Session Refund Policy
- Courses with insufficient enrollment will be canceled and all tuition and fees paid will be refunded in full.
- Withdrawal and refund requests for any other reason must be made in writing and emailed to youngconservatory@act-sf.org.
- Refund requests will be honored in full if received at least one week (7 days) prior to the start of the first class session. Class tuition will be refunded while the non-refundable registration and library fees will be withheld.
- Should a refund request be made after the above deadline, a withdrawal fee will be withheld in addition to the standard non-refundable fees as follows.
- After the refund deadline but before the first class date: $25 withdrawal fee
- On or after the first class date of full-length classes: $45 withdrawal fee
- Refunds of any kind cannot be processed after the start of the second class meeting for full-length courses or on the day of intensives.
- Please allow 10-14 days for your refund to be processed.

Middle School Classes

Schedule: Thursdays, Sep 21–Nov 9 from 4 pm–6 pm at 30 Grant Ave
Tuition: $305
Gain confidence and expand your acting knowledge with our Middle School Acting: The Actor’s Toolbox! This fundamental course for young actors is designed to give students foundational knowledge of acting principles, improvisation, and text performance. Students of all levels of experience are welcome, and this course may be repeated. Actors will explore:
- Theatrical skills such as tableaux, gesture, vocal production, and movement
- Improvisation games
- Character development through key tools including objective, obstacle, actions, and physicality
- Scene and monologue performance
Classes will meet once a week for 8 weeks. Students will have 2 hours of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. There will be some minimal assignments and memorization in between classes. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” on the final hour of the final day to present projects, monologues, and scenes rehearsed in class. Have fun with peers while gaining some valuable acting skills!

Schedule: Saturdays, Sept 23–Nov 11 from 10 am–12 pm at 30 Grant Ave
Tuition: $325
Dive into the world of musical theater performance with the YC’s foundational Musical Theater class. Students of all levels of experience are welcome, and this course may be repeated. Under the guidance of a lead instructor and live accompanist, actors will explore:
- Singing fundamentals such as breath control, articulation, and vocal technique
- Introduction to dance and improving confidence in movement abilities
- Song and character improvisation, interpretation and performance
Classes will meet once a week for 8 weeks. Students will have 2 hours of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. There will be some minimal assignments and memorization in between classes. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” on the final hour of the final day to present projects, songs, and group numbers rehearsed in class. Have fun with peers while gaining some valuable musical theater skills!

Tuition: $325
Interested in acting in film and television? Now’s your chance to get in front of the camera! Students of all levels of experience are welcome, and this course may be repeated. Guided by an on-camera specialist, actors will explore:
- Fundamental acting tools including objective, obstacle, actions, tactics, and point of view
- Theatrical skills such as scene analysis, vocal production, and physical awareness
- On-camera acting techniques versus stage techniques
- Audition preparation and filming yourself
- The business and industry of film, television, and commercial acting
Classes will meet once a week for 8 weeks. Students will have 2 hours of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. There will be some minimal assignments and memorization in between classes. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” on the final hour of the final day to present projects, videos, and scenes rehearsed in class, and students will have access to footage recorded during the course. This is an excellent class for actors with some acting background who want to explore the similarities and differences between stage and on-camera acting, and gain confidence being in front of the camera.

Tuition: $305
Get ready to laugh AND learn foundational acting techniques as students explore some of the funniest scenes from contemporary and classical plays. Led by veteran YC faculty member Andy Alabran, actors will explore:
- Character development through key tools including objective, obstacle, actions, and physicality
- Scene interpretation and performance
- Theatrical skills such as improvisation, tableaux, gesture, vocal production, and movement
Classes will meet once a week for eight weeks. Unless otherwise stated, all classes will be held in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. There may be some assignments and memorization in between classes. This intensive will culminate in a group showing to present material rehearsed in class. This is a great class for actors who want to continue their actor training and channel their playful impulses, while honing some skills specific to the comedic genre.
