Enrollment Info
- Each order (regardless of number of classes added) will include a $20 registration fee. This fee goes towards administrative costs and funding our A.C.T. Library.
- Classes will have limited capacity—enrollment is accepted in order of registration until all spots are filled. To be added to the waitlist, email YoungConservatory@act-sf.org.
- A minimum number of students is required to run each class. If a class has insufficient enrollment and is cancelled, students can choose to attend another class, or for their tuition to be refunded.
Fall Session Refund Policy
- Courses with insufficient enrollment will be canceled and all tuition and fees paid will be refunded in full.
- Withdrawal and refund requests for any other reason must be made in writing and emailed to youngconservatory@act-sf.org.
- Refund requests will be honored in full if received at least two full weeks (14 days) prior to the start of the first class meeting. Class tuition will be refunded while the non-refundable registration fee will be withheld.
- Should a refund request be made after the above deadline, a withdrawal fee will be withheld in addition to the standard non-refundable registration fee as follows.
- After the refund deadline but before the first class date: $25 withdrawal fee
- On or after the first class date of full-length classes: $45 withdrawal fee
- Refunds of any kind cannot be processed after the start of the second class meeting for full-length courses or on the day of intensives.
- Please allow 10-14 days for your refund to be processed.

High School Classes

Please note that while we will hold classes on Diwali (October 20), we will accommodate absences.
Tuition: $315
Discover the power of William’s words through stage combat! In this 9-week course, students will focus on Shakespeare’s greatest fight scenes: think Tybalt vs. Mercutio, Macbeth vs. Macduff, Helena vs. Hermia! Whether comedic or dramatic, these young artists will take a deep dive into text, learning techniques for decoding complex language and investing fully in rich characterization. With an emphasis on safety, technique, and storytelling, hand-to-hand stage combat basics will be woven into the scene work to create compelling and physically dynamic performances. Classes will meet once a week for 9 weeks (no class on Monday, October 13). Students will have 90 minutes of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. Students are expected to attend all sessions and there may be some assignments and memorization between classes. This intensive will culminate in a group showing “open class” on the final hour of the final day (November 10) to present material rehearsed in class.

MS Acting: Stage Combat and Shakespeare is for you if:
- You are interested in the world of stage combat and/or
- You want to explore Shakespeare and/or
- You’re excited to learn new skills with peers in a fun and rigorous atmosphere
Schedule: 10 Tuesdays: Sept 9, 16, 23, 30, Oct 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov 4 & 11 from 4:30–6 p.m. at 30 Grant Ave

Dive into scenes with complex characters and layered text from iconic plays in HS Acting: Scene Study. In this workshop designed for committed actors, students will engage deeply with acting techniques introduced in previous acting classes in order to build believable characters, analyze text, and respond truthfully to circumstances, scene partners and language. Classes will meet once a week for 10 weeks. Students will have 90 minutes of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. Coursework may include monologues, scenes and/or devised performance. Students are expected to attend all sessions and participate fully in all games and exercises and should expect to spend some prep or rehearsal time outside of class. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” for friends and family during the final hour of the final day (November 11) to present material rehearsed in class.
HS Acting: Scene Study is for you if:
- You’re interested in serious acting study and are ready to dive deeper into character creation and scene work and/or
- You’ve taken some acting classes before and want to sharpen your skills and/or
- You’re interested in pursuing acting beyond high school

In addition to imagination and a sense of “in the moment” play, the actor’s voice and the actor’s body are elements that need the most development in young actors. This class is designed for adventurous and committed actors. In this course, students will unlock the power of creating vibrant, spontaneous characters through physicalization, identifying obstacles, and working to overcome them. Students will explore a variety of approaches, including improvisation exercises and collective creation of devised original work to strengthen overall performance. Classes will meet once a week for 10 weeks. Students will have 2 hours of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. Students are expected to attend all sessions and may expect to spend a little prep or rehearsal time outside of class for the best experience. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” for friends and family during the final hour of the final day (November 15) to present material rehearsed in class.
HS Acting: Improvisation & Devised Theater is for you if:
- You have taken some acting classes, and feel like you would like to practice “letting go” a bit on stage through a new approach and/or
- You would like to expand your physical vocabulary and awareness of your own body to deepen your character work and/or
- You are open to new approaches to acting and want to learn more about devised or collective work

Tuition: $225
In this technique-focused workshop, students will practice learning and generating movement sequences and phrases using Broadway show tunes. Objectives of the class include practicing character embodiment, experiencing integrated choreography with singing and storytelling, and improving and gaining confidence in movement/dance abilities. Students are not expected to sing. This class is designed for students with prior dance experience, but all levels are welcome. Classes will meet once a week for 10 weeks. Students will have 55 minutes of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” during the final hour of the final day (November 15) to present material rehearsed in class.
HS Musical Theater: Dance Workshop is for you if:
- You’ve had limited exposure to dance and would like to explore some fundamental movement vocabulary in a fun atmosphere and/or
- You’ve taken dance but would like the opportunity to focus on musical theater dance or prepare for upcoming auditions
- You’ve taken musical theater or singing and would like to explore this third part of the “triple threat” skill set and/or
- You’re ready for a physical theater experience that also allows you to play with character and acting

A solid technical foundation is the basis for all great singers and musical theater performers. In this course, students will develop a toolbox of vocal techniques – including breath, alignment, resonance, and articulation – to enhance their musical performance as they explore foundational exercises and a variety of musical styles. This class is designed for singers with some prior musical or singing experience, but all levels are welcome. Classes will meet once a week for 10 weeks. Students will have 55 minutes of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. This course may culminate in a group showing “open class” during the final hour of the final day (November 15) to present material rehearsed in class, to be confirmed closer to November.
HS Musical Theater: Voice Workshop is for you if:
- Your exposure to voice lessons is limited and would like to explore some fundamental singing vocabulary in a group setting and/or
- You’ve taken voice lessons and would like to deepen your knowledge
Schedule: 10 Saturdays: Sept 13, 20, 27, Oct 4, 11, 18, 25, Nov 1, 8 & 15 from 1:30–3:30 p.m. at 30 Grant Ave

Interested in acting in film and television? Now’s your chance to get in front of the camera! Students of all levels of experience are welcome, and this course may be repeated. Guided by an on-camera specialist, actors will explore acting techniques, learn about the film and television industry, and gain confidence being in front of the camera. Classes will meet once a week for 10 weeks. Students will have 2 hours of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. Students are expected to attend all sessions and participate fully in all games and exercises and should expect to spend some prep or rehearsal time outside of class. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” for friends and family during the final hour of the final day (November 15) to present material rehearsed in class.

HS On-Camera Acting is for you if:
- You’ve taken some acting classes and are curious about the differences between stage and on-camera techniques and/or
- You’d like to learn more about the film, television, and commercial acting industry and/or
- You’ve had experience in theater and are looking for a new acting medium
