Classes will be held at our 30 Grant Avenue studios in San Francisco.  

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all faculty and students, the YC  will adhere to the most updated safety precautions recommended by San Francisco, county, and state guidance in effect at the time of class.

Spring Session Refund Policy

  • Courses with insufficient enrollment will be canceled and all tuition and fees paid will be refunded in full.
  • Withdrawal and refund requests for any other reason must be made in writing and emailed to youngconservatory@act-sf.org.
  • Refund requests will be honored in full if received at least one week (7 days) prior to the start of the first class session. Class tuition will be refunded while the non-refundable registration and library fees will be withheld.
  • Should a refund request be made after the above deadline, a withdrawal fee will be withheld in addition to the standard non-refundable fees as follows.
    • After the refund deadline but before the first class date: $25 withdrawal fee
    • On or after the first class date of full-length classes: $45 withdrawal fee
  • Refunds of any kind cannot be processed after the start of the second class meeting for full-length courses or on the day of intensives.
  • Please allow 10-14 days for your refund to be processed.

Junior Classes

Schedule: 8 Tuesdays: Mar 19, 26, Apr 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 & May 7 from 4:15–6:15 p.m. at 30 Grant Ave
Tuition: $325

Interested in acting in film and television? Now’s your chance to get in front of the camera! Students of all levels of experience are welcome, and this course may be repeated. Guided by an on-camera specialist, actors will explore acting techniques, learn about the film and television industry, and gain confidence being in front of the camera. Classes will meet once a week for 8 weeks. Students will have 2 hours of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. There will be some minimal assignments and memorization in between classes.  This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” on the final hour of the final day (May 7) to present material rehearsed in class.

JR On-Camera Acting is for you if:

  • You’ve taken some acting classes and are curious about the differences between stage and on-camera techniques and/or
  • You’d like learn more about the film, television, and commercial acting industry and/or
  • You’ve had experience in theater and are looking for a new acting medium

Schedule: 8 Thursdays: Mar 21, 28, Apr 4, 11, 18, 25, May 2 & 9 from 4:15–6:15 p.m. at 30 Grant Ave
Tuition: $325

Take a journey into the world of puppetry!  In this class, students will learn about this unique art form and create different kinds of puppetry to bring stories and characters to life under the guidance of a master puppeteer. No experience needed. Students will have 2 hours of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco with some minimal assignments and memorization in between classes. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” on the final hour of the final day (May 9) to present material rehearsed in class.

JR Acting: Puppetry & Story Theater is for you if:

  • You’ve never studied acting before and are curious to try a unique outlet for your creativity and imagination and/or
  • You’ve taken some acting before and want to want to explore this exciting new area of theater and/or
  • You’re excited to craft and voice wacky characters through puppetry

Schedule: 8 Saturdays: Mar 16, 23 (no class Mar 30), Apr 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4 & 11 from 10 a.m–12 p.m. at 30 Grant Ave

This spring, join us as we bring back the combination acting-musical theater curriculum that allows curious actors-in-training to experience it all!  We encourage young actors to explore both acting and musical theater as tools to tell a story and learn fundamental theater vocabulary in a fun and supportive environment. Basic singing and movement skills are introduced through choreography, staging and song performance led by a lead teaching artist and recorded accompaniment. Students also learn about improvisation, physical character and the building blocks of understanding a monologue or scene, and how to use the actor’s body and face to help create character and tell a story. Students will have 2 hours of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco with some minimal assignments and memorization in between classes. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” on the final hour of the final day (May 11) to present material rehearsed in class.

JR Performance Exploration: Acting and Musical Theater is for you if:

  • You’ve never studied acting or musical theater before and want a fun and easy-going opportunity to explore both and/or
  • You’ve taken some acting or musical theater classes before and want to sharpen your skills and/or
  • You’re shy and looking for an experience to help you emerge from your shell
