Information on any in-person offerings at A.C.T’s The Strand theater location (1127 Market Street) will be available in mid-late May.  

CLASS LISTINGS

Intensives

Intensives run M-F for either 1 or 2 weeks.

Now’s your chance to discover the entire world of Disney: Frozen, Moana, Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog, and more! Our professional theater faculty will select material from favorite Disney musicals that highlights each student’s strengths. Students of all levels of experience welcome. Actors will explore:

  • Vocal technique such as breath control, articulation, rhythm, and vocal production
  • Movement and an introduction to choreography
  • Song interpretation and making a well-loved character your own

Classes will meet online via Zoom in two blocks (one 60-min and one 90-min), separated by an hour lunch break. There will be some assignments and memorization in between classes. This intensive will culminate in a group "public" showing (families, gather around the computer!) to present projects and songs rehearsed in class. Have fun with peers while gaining some valuable musical theater skills!

Session Dates: June 7–June 18, Monday through Friday at 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m. (break from 11 a.m–12 p.m.) via Zoom

Total screen time of 2.5 hours daily, with activities designed to create movement and variety within and between sessions.

Tuition: $450

Expand your acting toolbox with Acting Intensive: Magical Worlds. Actors will focus on material inspired by literature, screen adaptations and songs from a variety of magical worlds, including Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and more. Along the way, students will build a foundational knowledge of acting principles and explore improvisation, character work, and text performance. Students of all levels of experience welcome. Actors will explore:

  • Theatrical skills such as tableaux, gesture, vocal production, and movement
  • Improvisation games
  • Character development through key tools including objective, obstacle, actions, physicality
  • Scene and monologue performance

Classes will meet  online via Zoom in two blocks (one 60-min and one 90-min), separated by an hour lunch break. There will be some assignments and memorization in between classes. This intensive will culminate in a group "public" showing (families, Zoom in or gather around the computer!) to present projects and scenes rehearsed in class. Have fun with peers while gaining some valuable acting skills!

Session Dates: June 21–July 2, Monday through Friday at 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m. (break from 11 a.m–12 p.m.) via Zoom

Total daily screen time of 2.5 hours, with activities designed to create movement and variety within and between sessions.

From classics like West Side Story and Into the Woods to contemporary favorites like Hamilton and Wicked, actors will delve into the songs of iconic musicals from Broadway. Using hit solos and group numbers from these shows, actors will explore:

  • Vocal technique such as breath control, articulation, rhythm, and vocal production
  • Choreography and character embodiment
  • Song interpretation and phrasing

Classes will meet online via Zoom in two blocks (one 60-min and one 90-min), separated by an hour lunch break. There will be some assignments and memorization in between classes. This intensive will culminate in a group "public" showing (families, Zoom in or gather around the computer!) to present projects and songs rehearsed in class. Have fun with peers while gaining some valuable musical theater skills! Students of all levels of experience welcome.

Junior Session: July 6–July 16, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m. (break from 11 a.m.–12 p.m.) via Zoom

Total screen time of 2.5 hours daily, with activities designed to create movement and variety within and between sessions.

Tuition: $405

Interested in acting in film and television? Now’s your chance to get in front of the camera in the 2-Week Acting Intensive: On Camera. Students of all levels of experience welcome. Actors will explore:

  • Fundamental acting tools including objective, obstacle, actions, tactics, and point of view
  • Theatrical skills such as scene analysis, vocal production, and physical awareness
  • On-camera acting techniques versus stage techniques
  • Audition preparation and filming yourself
  • The business and industry of film, television, and commercial acting


Classes will meet online via Zoom in two blocks (one 60-min and one 90-min), separated by an hour lunch break. There will be some assignments and memorization in between classes. This intensive will culminate in a group "public" showing (families, Zoom in or gather around the computer!) to present projects and filmed scenes. Have fun with peers while gaining some valuable acting skills!

Junior Session: July 19–July 30, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m. (break from 11 a.m–12 p.m.) via Zoom

Total daily screen time of 2.5 hours, with activities designed to create movement and variety within and between sessions.

Tuition: $450

Start some drama at home with the 1-Week Theater Intensive, a series of fun and educational acting, musical theater, and story theater activities for young actors. Students of all levels of experience welcome. Actors will explore:

  • Theatrical skills such as tableaux, gesture, dramatic reading and vocal production
  • The importance of play with improvisation and physical character
  • Basic singing, dancing skills, and movement to get them on their feet

Classes will meet online via Zoom in two blocks (one 60-min and one 90-min),separated by an hour lunch break. There will be some assignments and memorization in between classes. This intensive will culminate in a group "public" showing (families, Zoom in or gather around the computer!) to present projects and scenes rehearsed in class. Have fun with peers while gaining some valuable theater skills!

Session 1: August 2–August 6, Monday through Friday at 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m. (break from 11 a.m–12 p.m.) via Zoom

Session 2: August 9–August 13, Monday through Friday at 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m. (break from 11 a.m–12 p.m.) via Zoom
