Join us for A.C.T.'s second annual New Strands Festival: where artists and audiences meet for the city's most unique exploration of new work!
During this free event, you can curate your own creative journey through genres, events and performance spaces in A.C.T.’s newly-refurbished Strand Theater in the heart of Central Market.
Be among the first to hear staged readings of (nearly) finished plays, experience snippets of new musicals in their earliest stages, take part in an exclusive masterclass, enjoy a produced lab of a commissioned movement piece, mingle with artists, enjoy live music at an artistic happy hour—or all of the above! As you move from room to room, experiencing and sharing your thoughts on the work in development, you will become a crucial part of bringing each piece to life.
New this year, you can also explore new plays in development with A.C.T.’s inaugural New Strands Residency, which gives emerging and established American playwrights the opportunity to develop new works in residence at A.C.T. Three of this year’s pieces—The Great Leap, The Man from Saigon and Snowflakes, or Rare White People—are courtesy of our inaugural partner, Ma-Yi Theater Company, one of the country’s leading incubators of new work centered on what it means to be Asian American today.
Performances are free, but reservations are strongly encouraged.
We look forward to welcoming you and creating exciting new work together!
