Studio Rentals
Conveniently located at 30 Grant Avenue, just blocks away from San Francisco's Union Square, many of A.C.T.'s rehearsal studios are available for short-term rental.
Ideal for any type of rehearsal, there are 10 studios of various sizes, from large and spacious to cozy and intimate. The smallest studio is approximately 400 square feet; the largest is approximately 1,700 square feet. Some studios are equipped with dance barres and dance floors and some include pianos. All studios have floors that are suitable for movement (no carpeting). A.C.T.'s new nontraditional performance space, The Costume Shop, is now also available for rent!
Rehearsal studios fill up quickly, and we recommend reserving in advance for best availability. See below for descriptions of all available studios. Hastings Studio is the largest of A.C.T.'s many rehearsal spaces. Located on the sixth floor, it is approximately 1,750 square feet, and features a full lighting grid and control booth. It is also wired for sound. There are several tiered seating platforms that can be arranged in a variety of ways. Hastings is a highly versatile black box theater and is used primarily for performances.
Stein Studio is a spacious studio located on the sixth floor. With approximately 850 square feet of rehearsal space and a full wall of windows, this studio is a large, brightly lit room. It also has a piano, which makes it perfect for singing, acting, coaching, or rehearsing.
7A is a spacious studio located on the seventh floor. With approximately 850 square feet of rehearsal space and a full wall of windows, this brightly lit room has its own chalkboard and piano. This space is ideal for singing, acting, coaching, or rehearsing.
The Patrick F. Flannery Studio (8A) is a large studio on the eighth floor with approximately 800 square feet of rehearsal space. It has a full wall of floor-to-ceiling mirrors and a wall of windows overlooking Grant Avenue. This studio is bright and spacious, making it an attractive rehearsal space for dance, theater, and other performances.
The Douglas A. Russell Studio (8B) is a large studio on the eighth floor with approximately 700 square feet of rehearsal space. It has a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows with balcony access, providing a lovely view of Grant Avenue. This studio also has a chalkboard, making it ideal for working rehearsals.
8C has a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows with balcony access, providing a lovely view of Grant Avenue. Angled floor-to-ceiling windows also provide a sweeping view of Geary Street. Located on the eighth floor, this spacious studio is approximately 850 square feet, making it ideal for working rehearsals.
8D/E is a large studio on the eighth floor with roughly 1,250 square feet of rehearsal space. Angled floor-to-ceiling windows provide a sweeping view of Geary Street. This spacious studio is highly versatile and has its own dance barre and chalkboard.
8G is a large studio on the eighth floor with approximately 1,200 square feet of rehearsal space. It is a fully equipped dance studio with dance barres, a dance floor, and one wall of floor-to-ceiling mirrors. It also has a piano, making it an ideal choice for dance classes and rehearsals, musical theater rehearsals, and acting sessions.
The Albert J. Moorman Studio (9A) is approximately 900 square feet and, like 8G, is fully equipped for dance rehearsals. Located on the ninth floor, it has a full wall of floor-to-ceiling mirrors, a piano, a dance floor, and dance barres, which make this studio perfect for any type of rehearsal. This studio also has balcony access, providing a gorgeous view of the city.
9B is an intimate studio with its own chalkboard. Located on the ninth floor, it is approximately 400 square feet and perfect for rehearsals with small groups or private training sessions. This studio also has balcony access, providing a gorgeous view of the city.
