Subscriber F.A.Q.

How do I reschedule my tickets for another performance?

A.C.T. subscribers may reschedule to another performance of the same play with no fee either in person, by mail, or by telephone. Just contact us by 5 p.m. on the day of your performance (by 12:30 p.m. for matinees). You are assured the very best seats in your section available at the time you reschedule. Subscribers are asked to pay the difference in price if rescheduling into a higher-priced performance. Due to high attendance for several shows, particularly late in the run of a show, A.C.T. cannot guarantee comparable seating.

By Phone: Please call 415.749.2ACT with your tickets in hand. The phone lines can be very busy. For the best possible service, we suggest calling between 2 and 5 p.m.

By Mail: We encourage you to reschedule in advance by mail. This allows A.C.T. to resell your tickets, which is particularly helpful in the event of a sold-out show. Please allow ten working days to receive your new tickets by mail; otherwise, tickets will be held at the box office for pickup. Simply choose first- and second-choice alternate dates and mail your tickets to:

A.C.T. Performance Rescheduling
30 Grant Avenue, Sixth Floor
San Francisco, CA 94108

In Person: Visit the A.C.T. box office at 405 Geary Street, located next to the American Conservatory Theater.

What do I do if I lose my ticket?

If you have lost your ticket, we will replace it free of charge. Please call the A.C.T. box office at 415.749.2ACT.

I just become a subscriber. When will I receive my tickets and seating assignments?

Between April and June of each season our subscription staff reseats about 18,000 A.C.T. subscribers. Renewing subscribers are seated first, and these subscribers may keep their seats and request improvements. Improvements are determined by priority and based on continuous years of subscription, donor history, and the date a renewal is paid. New subscribers are seated next. We will assign you the best available seating based on the date we receive your paid order.

You should expect to receive your tickets via first-class mail in late July or early August.

Is there an additional charge to subscriber over the phone or on the website?

All subscription prices include a $10 per subscription package handling fee, as well as a $2 per show facility fee. All subscribers, whether they purchase by mail, phone, fax or website, pay these fees as part of their subscription price.

As a subscriber, can I purchase additional discounted tickets for guests?

As a subscriber you can purchase extra A.C.T. tickets for your friends and family at reduced subscriber prices. You will also receive advance notice and special offers for performances not included in your subscription package. Please call the box office at 415.749.2ACT to learn more.

Where can I find convenient and affordable parking?

The Mason O'Farrell Garage, located on the same block as the American Conservatory Theater at the corner of Mason and O'Farrell streets, offers an evening special to theatergoers: park for up to five hours at the Mason O'Farrell Garage for $10. Show your ticket stub upon exiting to receive this special discount.

A.C.T. subscribers have the option to purchase a prepaid parking booklet for the Mason O'Farrell Garage when ordering their season subscription.

How can I receive more in-depth information about A.C.T.'s productions?

There are several ways for A.C.T. subscribers to enhance their theater experience—on the web and by email, through printed materials, and at pre- and postperformance discussions at A.C.T. Visit the InterACT page to learn more.

Words on Plays
A.C.T.'s Words on Plays performance guides contain an entertaining and enriching collection of program articles, plot notes, interviews, and additional background information about each play. Each issue will arrive by mail about a week before the production begins. Subscriptions are available to full-season (7-play) subscribers for just $70, and to partial-season subscribers for $10 each. You can also purchase single issues of Words on Plays at the A.C.T. box office beginning one week before the first performance of each show, and in the theater lobby during intermission, subject to availability. Single copies are $12 each and are available online, at the box office or, by call 415.749.2ACT.

Prologues and Audience Exchanges
A.C.T. staff members and guests moderate free postperformance discussions in the theater after select performances. Prologues are free in-theater introductions to the play by the director before a preview performance of each show. You are welcome to join us for an Audience Exchange even if you do not attend the performance preceding it. Call 415.749.2ACT for dates and times, or visit the InterACT page to learn more.

Join the A.C.T. eClub
We also encourage our subscribers to become a member online. Registering is free and will allow you to receive additional information about upcoming performances and discounts on special events. A.C.T. eClub members also have access to exclusive online content and are first to know about upcoming InterACT events at A.C.T.

Can I receive an emergency phone call during a performance?

Yes. Please leave your seat location with those who may need to reach you and have them call 415.439.2396 in case of emergency.

Whom can I call to give feedback about a performance?
