Access and Outreach

American Conservatory Theater is committed to sharing the experience and joy of live theater with anyone who wishes to attend. A.C.T. has instituted several programs and opportunities as diverse as the Bay Area itself to make sure A.C.T. is a home to all.

Bike to the Theater Night Bike to the Theater Night

A.C.T. is partnering with the San Francisco Bike Coalition (www.sfbike.org) to provide a greener alternative to your theater transportation. For each production of the season, we will host a Bike to the Theater Night, during which the SFBC will offer free valet bike parking for all patrons who cycle to the theater. Valet bike parking is available one hour prior to show time. Bikes will be attended throughout the evening. Please bring your own lock. See the online calendar for dates.

Pay What You Wish

For each season play, A.C.T. offers one Pay What You Wish/Bring What You Can performance, where patrons can bring non-perishable food items requested by the San Francisco Food Bank and pay whatever they wish for their tickets. There is a two-ticket limit per person. Tickets go on sale at 6 p.m. the day of the performance.

Please call the Box Office at 415.749.2ACT to find out when the next Pay What You Wish performance is, or check the online calendar. Please note that Pay What You Wish tickets are cash only.

Nonprofit Fundraisers

A.C.T. donates a limited number of tickets for charities and fundraisers each month. To learn more about how to participate in this program, please call the Donations Hotline at 415.439.2480.

Donation requests must be made by fax or mail only. No phone calls, please. The fax number is 415.834.3300; the address is American Conservatory Theater, 30 Grant Avenue, Sixth Floor, San Francisco, CA 94108. Please include "attention ticket donation department" on all faxes and mailed requests. Due to the enormous amount of requests, A.C.T. cannot fill every one.

Please include the following information: The name of your organization on official letterhead, the contact information of the person who is to receive the donation (keep in mind the person must be able to receive mail at the address printed on the letterhead; this is especially important for schools and universities), the name and date of your event, and the tax ID number proving your organization's nonprofit status. Your request will not be considered until all of this information is provided. The certificates will be mailed two months before the event to those organizations chosen. Unfortunately, because of the number of requests, we cannot send confirmation to all who apply. No follow-up calls, please.

ArtReach

ArtReach is an intensive theater-based program offered by A.C.T. in collaboration with 20 public schools throughout the Bay Area. Artists lead free workshops in the schools, teachers receive curriculum materials, and students—who otherwise would have little exposure to the arts—attend A.C.T. student matinee performances at no charge. To learn more about the program, contact 415.439.2486.

Young Conservatory Outreach Project

In close collaboration with community partners, the A.C.T. Young Conservatory provides complimentary after-school programs in San Francisco neighborhoods such as the Tenderloin, Mission District, and Potrero Hill. For more information about this program, contact the Young Conservatory at 415.439.2444.
