A.C.T.’s Education and Community Programs Department and Hilltop School present an original performance stemming from a yearlong creative writing project. The students, all pregnant and parenting teens, have spent the school year exploring theater and writing exercises that build confidence, address specific issues, and empower them to feel more connected to themselves and others.
"Mi Camino" is written and performed by the students, and directed by A.C.T. Teaching Artists Annie Rovzar, Janel Chanté, and R. Réal Vargas Alanis. The performance features poetry, monologues, scenes, songs and original compositions exploring students' various journeys through life thus far. Every journey is, in some form, a departure from the known world into the unknown--"Mi Camino" wrestles with the questions, longings, losses, and discoveries made along the way.
This event is reserved for the Hilltop community and invited guests, and will be followed by a delicious meal and celebration of the students’ success. Families, including the students' own children and caregivers, are encouraged to come and experience the performance and celebrate with the community.
