InterACT at Home

While our theaters are dark, we’ve created exciting free and ticketed virtual programming and events that give you an up-close look at the inner workings of theater and an opportunity to interact with artists and other theatergoers, expand your imagination in new ways, and help build a better world through theater.

The 20/21/22 Season is here, beginning with virtual Live Stream and On Demand performances and events to enjoy from the comfort and safety of home! Virtual tickets are on sale now for each show or become an A.C.T. Meads Reads

In this book club for plays, Director of Dramaturgy and New Work Joy Meads hosts a lively conversation about an irresistibly rich dramatic text. After reading the same play, the group will gather on Zoom to dig into its juicy layers of meaning. Each play comes with a suggestion for dinner from a local restaurant and/or a drink recipe from a local mixologist, and we will partner with small publishers, local booksellers, and individual playwrights to make scripts available.

The next Meads Reads discussion will be announced soon.

Place: Here. Time: Now.

A monthly series of freewheeling conversations between A.C.T’s Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon, eminent theater artists, and thought leaders on where they are in the present moment. Tune in to learn what is top of mind for some of the nation’s most curious and creative thinkers as they discuss and argue about theater and the world around them. How did we get here? What possibilities do they see ahead? How do they imagine change?

In this next episode, A.C.T. Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon chats with playwrights Larissa FastHorse (The Thanksgiving Play–up next at A.C.T.) and Bruce Norris (Clybourne Park, Downstate) about what’s on their minds, from where their plays come from to the neuroscience of storytelling.

Takes on a Scene

Artists provide commentary—their takes—on a specific scene from a recent A.C.T. production. Get a feel for the different points of view and the choices that go into bringing a script to life.

In this clip from Madhuri Shekar's In Love and Warcraft, director Peter J. Kuo, stage manager Ariana Johnson, and sound designer Lana Palmer take you behind the scenes to learn the ingenious secrets of how they created the illusions of actors sharing space in a live digital performance.
