A.C.T. seeks to attract to its faculty, staff, and student body qualified persons from diverse backgrounds in an effort to enrich our collective creative experience. Students of all abilities, racial identities, and gender identities are welcome and encouraged to apply for A.C.T.'s Summer Training Congress. Scholarships are available, view the STC Financial Aid page.

Guidelines for applying to STC

Enrollment application submission must include:

  1. Completed application form.
  2. Current resume listing previous training and experience
  3. One full-face snapshot or 8" x 10" headshot
  4. Contact information for one reference, including name, phone number, and email address–these individuals will automatically receive instructions on how to submit a letter of recommendation
  5. A nonrefundable, non-waivable $40 application fee, payable by credit card or PayPal
  6. A personal essay (no longer than one typewritten page) describing why you want to be an actor and your personal artistic goals.

Enrollment is limited and selective. To guarantee your place in the 2024 STC, please submit your enrollment application as early as possible. No entrance audition is necessary (see Placement Interviews section below). Students are considered for acceptance in the program as their completed applications are received and reviewed. 

Placement Interviews

Placement interviews are held during registration to place each student in an appropriate company. Applicants who are accepted must prepare one monologue from a contemporary play or a classical selection. Sonnets, poems, and other non-dramatic materials are not acceptable. Please limit selection to no more than two minutes.

Requirements

Applicants to the STC must:

  • be at least 18 years of age by the first day of class
  • have a secondary (US high school equivalent) education degree

Upon acceptance to the program, a deposit of $500 is due with the return of the letter of agreement. There is an additional $20 nonrefundable library fee per student.
