Expansive: A Showcase of Transgender & Non-Binary Classical Artists

To kick off Transgender History Month in San Francisco, The Transgender District & Opera Parallèle present Expansive – A Showcase of Transgender and Non-Binary Classical Artists. In its second year, this public event is part of a new partnership between the two organizations designed to create more opportunities for transgender or gender-expansive performers. The Expansive Showcase serves as an open invitation from The Transgender District to join them in their place, an area of great cultural and historical significance, to celebrate the stories and artistry of the transgender community. 

Featured artists this year (seen L-R above) include award winning classical singer Katherine Goforth, Detroit based harpist and multidisciplinary artist Ahya Simone, and mezzo-soprano Nikola Printz who will also incorporate aerial work into their performance, with accompaniment by Taylor Chan. Serving as the evening’s host will be San Francisco’s own DIVAlicious Dreamgirl, Afrika America.
