September 9–November 17, 2024

Please note that while classes will be held on Yom Kippur (October 12), we will accommodate any student absences for holiday observance.

Location

All fall classes will meet in-person at our 30 Grant Ave studios in San Francisco.

Enrollment Info

  • Fall classes will have limited capacity—enrollment is accepted in order of registration until all spots are filled. To be added to the waitlist, email YoungConservatory@act-sf.org
  • A minimum number of students is required to run each class. If a class has insufficient enrollment and is cancelled, students can choose to attend another class, or for their tuition to be refunded.

Attendance Policy

Due to the collaborative nature of theater classes which involve ensemble and pair work, our classes are not a "drop-in" model. Our teaching artists plan for full participation from all students each week and appreciate any conflicts to be communicated as early as possible to enable us to plan for the best experience possible!

Fall Session Refund Policy

  • Courses with insufficient enrollment will be canceled and all tuition and fees paid will be refunded in full.
  • Withdrawal and refund requests for any other reason must be made in writing and emailed to youngconservatory@act-sf.org.
  • Refund requests will be honored in full if received at least one week (7 days) prior to the start of the first class session. Class tuition will be refunded while the non-refundable registration and library fees will be withheld.
  • Should a refund request be made after the above deadline, a withdrawal fee will be withheld in addition to the standard non-refundable fees as follows.
    • After the refund deadline but before the first class date: $25 withdrawal fee
    • On or after the first class date of full-length classes: $45 withdrawal fee
  • Refunds of any kind cannot be processed after the start of the second class meeting for full-length courses or on the day of intensives.

This fall, join us as we bring back the combination acting-musical theater curriculum that allows curious actors-in-training to experience it all! We encourage young actors to explore both acting and musical theater as tools to tell a story and learn fundamental theater vocabulary in a fun and supportive environment. Basic singing and movement skills are introduced through choreography, staging and song performance led by a lead teaching artist and recorded accompaniment. Students also learn about improvisation, physical character and the building blocks of preparing a monologue or scene, and how to use the actor’s body and face to help create character and tell a story. Students will have 90 minutes of training per week in-person at our 30 Grant Ave Studios in San Francisco. Students are expected to attend all sessions and may expect to spend a little prep or rehearsal time outside of class for the best experience. This course will culminate in a group showing “open class” for friends and family during the final hour of the final day (November 12) to present material rehearsed in class.
